My Art, Your Home - Issue #1

St. Elmo-tel - Private collection of David and Jennifer Anderson

Blue Skull - Private collection of David and Jennifer Anderson

I thought it would be neat to share some pictures of my artwork hanging in the homes or workplaces of my customers.  So if you own an original of mine, send me a picture of it on display.  I'll post it on the blog.  I may even set up a page for them soon.

Weekend Highlights

My new original piece from Mark Traughber - 4" x 5" on wood

Me and Lone Star #2

What an eventful artisic weekend.  Here is a brief rundown.

Friday night: The O's show.  Great local band that you have to check out....they can jam for just two guys!

Saturday night: The Visual Arts Guild of Frisco hosted an opening for the FISD employees and faculty.  I received an honorable mention award for "Lone Star #2"

Sunday: Ft. Worth Main Street Art Festival.  I was able to visit with my friend Jennifer Cavan and her husband Rees for a while there.  I even bought a small original piece from an artist named Mark Traughber.  I have a thing for water towers.  I love this little piece.  Make sure and check out his website and etsy shop.

After the art show I swung by an estate sale in Justin, Texas and picked up a few sweet books, old New Mexico postcards, and an old Texas map.

Green Chile Cheeseburgers - Graham's Grille and Coyote Bluff Cafe

Graham's Grille - Green Chile Cheeseburger

Line out the door at the Coyote Bluff Cafe - worth the wait my friends!

Inside the Coyote Bluff Cafe

Green Chile Cheeseburger - yes, it's the best burger I've ever had.

How could I forget to post some of my best meals from spring break?  Well, I forgot......sorry.  Better late than never.  I had one of the best green chile cheeseburgers I've ever had at Graham's Grille in Taos.  It was absolutely delicious!  The fried onions, thick bacon, and green chiles were outstanding.  It was paired up perfectly with a Santa Fe Nut Brown.  The very next day on our way home we stopped at Coyote Bluff Cafe in Amarillo.  It's the same place Adam from Man vs. Food stopped when he was in town.  This place is a total dive.  The line was out the door....because there are only about 15 tables in this little place.  I went with the green chile cheeseburger again.  Oh momma!  It was awesome!  I think I declared on the spot that it was the best hamburger I have ever had.  I will still stand by that statement.  If you are in Amarillo, Texas make sure you stop here!  PS. They only take cash so bring some foldin' money.

                                                   Downtown McKinney - 2nd Saturday

Laura Moore's Gallery

Yesterday I was lucky enough to get a spot at the annual McKinney Artwalk.  It's basically a day dedicated to art around the historic square.  I set up my little booth around 9 AM with all my paintings and Holga prints on display.  We had an awesome turnout!  There was a steady crowd until we closed up at 6 PM.  I met a lot of great people and artists at the show.  I also sold 6 paintings and 8 photographs which was the icing on the cake to a great day.  After Artwalk, Laura Moore had an opening by Alison Jardine. Wow!  Her paintings were really great!  So overall, we had a great day.  I think I'm now hooked on shows and need to find some new display opportunities soon.  Below are the paintings (with the exception of one) that didn't come home with me....kind of sad in a way, but I'm glad that someone else can enjoy them now.

Artwalk Prep

Some of my display ideas and new business cards

New sign I made for my table

This Saturday will be my first opportunity to have a booth at a local art show.  I'm very excited.  I'm getting an outdoor space along the sidewalk on the historic downtown McKinney square.  The event is called Artwalk.  It is hosted by gallery owner Laura Moore.  Her gallery website has more info on the show.  These last few weeks I have been working hard getting things ready for my "booth".......... I mean, tables.  I'll have almost all of my available paintings on site along with tons of Holga prints and other goodies.  I can't wait to get out there and visit with people and hang out with some cool local artists.  If you are in the DFW area on Saturday you should stop by and say hi.  I'll be there from 10-6.
