I started a drawing for a new painting yesterday. I'm going to paint a 24 x 36 image of the Alamo Plaza Hotel sign in Dallas, Texas. I took numerous pictures of the sign a few years ago and just never got around to doing anything with them. After I saw Kim Cadmus Owens show that included a painting of the same sign I took it as well.....a sign. Above is the reference photo I took that I am going to use for the painting. Below that is my first sketch on the canvas getting the major proportions down. I'll keep you posted as I make progress.
