I have probably made the drive from Dallas to San Antonio on I-35 hundreds of times. Right around Exit 349, just south of West, Texas, there is a little shop called the Style Station. It is an old filling station on the southbound side of the highway. Today, it is a vintage clothing and Texana store. It is truly an experience to visit. It is packed from floor to ceiling with vintage t-shirts, old cowboy boots, Levis, pearl snap western shirts, old records, and concert posters. It is a really cool place. We stopped by yesterday on our way back to Dallas as we sometimes do. The owner Art De Vitalis is an interesting guy. He will visit with you for as long as you're willing to prolong your trip. He said that all the Texas bands stop in periodically to pick up new threads for their shows. So next time you are on I-35 between Waco and West stop over at the Style Station and check it out. You will not be disappointed. It's a must see for you Texas lovers!

ReplyDeletedid you get a pearl snap?
ReplyDeleteNot this time, just a t-shirt. There were some sweet ones there though!
ReplyDeleteA word to the wise----Keep your head down, do your shopping and like the lady who recommended we stop there said, "Don't get him talking," or you'll be there all day!
ReplyDeleteNice vintage clothing inside, but beware of the owner. The guy that runs it is a real kook! Just for fun, as you're leaving his establishment, say something either good about a republican or bad about a democrat. You may have to run back to your car!
ReplyDelete@anonymous - I know what you mean
ReplyDeleteMy wife and I saw this place zipping by at 55 mph. heading to the Alamo(God bless John Wayne) from Romeoville IL. by chance I take a pic. note. I like to take pictures of old barns and stuff. So on the way back we stop in and went back to heaven in the 60's.
ReplyDeleteWonderful people. Walked out with a nice pair of bell bottoms at a nice price. Yes we will heading back to Texas.
